Romania has the most household in EU without bath shower or indoor flushing toilet: 27.2% as of 2017.
It also the country with a chronic shortage of highways which managed the performance of opening minus 4 km of highway in a year.
It's also the country where the secret services have/had secret protocols with the judicial system to basically allow spying on citizens on non national security issues. The current leader of the senate has been under surveillance for 7 years. During that period he was prime minister, regular joe, member of parliement and finally leader of senate.
It's also the country that had over 300 recordings that were part of evidence for a criminal trial for corruption turn out to be surveillance recordings of truckers talking about weather, pay day, wives etc... Only 1 recording was related to the actual case.
It's the country where a member of the constitutional court the highest authority that judges if laws are constitutional or not was investigated by prosecutors for trying to sell some goats, it was spinned as trying to sell them to Russia through a third country, Nothing came of it.
It's the country where our ex president gave away, while minister of transport, the ENTIRE commercial fleet of Romania some 300 ships away for literally nothing. He was "investigated" and there was found not to have prejudiced the national interests at all. Phew close one.
It's the country were same said ex president which got elected twice was suspended by parliament for gross unconstitutional conduct and 87% of the people that came to vote voted for his dismissal. He was saved by a 3 AM errata published by the then favorable to him constitutional court (with most members in vacation) that introduced a cvorum for the referendum. All the while the ex president was urging people not to come vote.
It's the country where the then campaign manager of the party in opposition to our ex president was convicted to 2 years suspended sentence for thinking of trying to organize random prize contests for people who voted during referendum. He sent a mass message to his people in the field day before referendum but sent another one rescinding the plan before it could be put in motion. The court concluded that his intention was malicious and he would have benefited from the result of the elections.
It's the country where the current president winning on a campaign of anti corruption (that he keeps insisting on to this day) owns 6 houses which he got on a highschool teacher then mayor salary (teacher salaries were street sweeper level at the time). When asked where did he get the money? Tutoring (no taxes payed for that). Did I say own 6 houses? It's 5 actually he lost one in civil court judge decreeing that the house was obtained using falsified documents (false inheritance), which he awarded himself while being mayor. Same dear leader when asked if he was ever under criminal investigation said he never ever was. Official documents point to at least 17 cases that were dismissed before getting to trial. Asked again about it? He still saying he was never investigated. Most of the press still praises him though.
Yeah fuck this country.

no righteous man raises his hand against the innocent,
a man need only strike another to make him evil."
