First few years I played was option A and I had a blast just solo and even with a few friends. End of world 7? (The last old style graphics world) and beginning of w10 I played in a small village (3 to 7 people.) And was really glad to move up to that. I was ready for the move and learned way more than in all the other worlds combined but, I was personally ready for it... Then, we joined a very big faction about a year into this world and honestly, I wasn't ready for it. I felt lost and overwhelmed. Oh, it was amazing the things they had done. The artistic touch to everything in the village. I was blown away really tho, and felt lost and so luckily they were nice enough to let me stay a member but keep my own place off site and I kinda spent the rest of this world polishing my playstyle and having fun in my own place. Now, I feel ready to be a contributor in a big faction.
So I would say A, B, then C but more importantly, go with what you feel. You could do all in one world.
Just my .O2... Taste, drink.., like/hate...

Depends on what you want, and how much time you want to invest.

A brings you full autonomy on how you want to set up your base, on your time, doing what you want, with no second thoughts. however, it's much more difficult to participate in certain activities (for me at least). for instance, as a hermit i've never made steel, i've never had more than 10 farm animals, i've never mined more than what I realistically needed. everything you want, you have to do yourself, and sometimes that can be a PITA

B is fun if you're with well known and trusted friends who also enjoy the game as much as you. infighting can happen with as few as 2 people if you don't know each other well. expect there to be some transience, people will get tired and leave, or not log in again. splits work load well if you can commit to your 'chores'

C - I have no ground to stand on here. never participated in any faction/large scale play.
Have a question? Need help? Tired of people asking questions? Haven and Hearth Wiki.

Just note that C tend to be power gamers and min/maxers. Be ready to be overwhelmed as stated, but you'll learn sooo much.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I have the most fun somewhere between A/B

I have a small dedicated gathering of hermits that SORT OF compartmentalize our tasks (mostly because I find cooking and cheese tedious lol)

I haven't had the desire to join a big village because in my experience, min/maxing so much in games just makes them not very fun at all
