I thought about that, but I assume you still can build wells on the islands and there is plenty of rivers and lakes on the big land.
So just in a couple of days drinkable water shouldn't be a problem anywhere.

That is a good point. This would seem pointless, in the deep ocean it goes.

if u boiled water some of it would evaporate and you would just end up with an even higher condensation of salt
... unless you would collect that evaporated water somehow...

its actually very simple, you collect the steam. can be done easily with a clay pot.
