Only it isn't, as the colours are actually thin overlays, and there are many different biomes it is hard to choose even four colours that will always be obvious next to each other.

I thought my suggestion of adding a button to the client to randomly assign new colours was probably the easiest "fix". Given that it isn't a game breaking or abusable bug, but a minor inconvenience at best. Drawing lines might be the best simple fix but might not be as straight forward as it seems given that the ends of the lines might not be in sight or even within 9 loaded mini maps.
