Before flaming him mindlessly, imagine that this sort of player is the possible future of Haven & Hearth.
No fresh players, no future for the game, just keep that in mind when you're bullying some hermits/newplayers.
You'll say "it's the game, I'm a PvPer", but I don't see the point that you're a skilled PvPer in bullying/killing naked newcomers, despite instant personal satisfaction.

World 13 just started and I got the opinion it will not stay played for long due to the lack of player base.
Do some PvP in faction wars and let the game be played by more casual players, just let the game live for longer.

Your new character really isn't worth giving your hat away for. Pretty dumb to hand it over. Just start a new character somewhere else.

Whether this story is real or fake, I can confirm hat raiders exist; I got mugged by them once last world. (Refused to give any hats obviously.)

It's maybe edgy but the hats and/or tokens are ingame items so why wouldn't you be able to ask for them?
And you don't have to pay the person, you can just say no.
There's no guarantee the evil do'er will leave you alone or send his friends by later to rob you blind anyway.
It's foolish to even give in to such demands.
If you start paying, you will keep paying.

Hats are traded for real-life money, so this creates a real-life incentive to get people to give you their hats. This is in contrast to normal griefing, which happens purely in the game as part of someone's normal gameplay, rather than because they gain some benefit external to the game from it.

Some robbers start hunting hermit from 3rd day, for no reason, kill anyone they see, throw everything. I ask some of them, their answer is same: they are helping you, help you to quit the game, they don't want other people play the game.

They run away when they met PvP players, they only hunting hermits.
