Thank you to all contributors, of course. But VDZ you did make that extra little bit of effort to share a very complete map with ability to publicly add markers. So thank you specifically.

Weird, I only see one marker on it.

Anyone can add or remove markers so it's possible someone decided to delete them for whatever reason. Yesterday someone had deleted Lanvik too but I assumed it had been an accident and just replaced it.

Sadly, this seems to be what has happened. This is why we can't have nice things.

Fortunately, I saw this coming since before I shared it, so I've been discussing with Shubla about what can be done about this, and I left open a browser tab with the map so I could still access them. I've manually recreated the map and Shubla added a read-only feature so vandalism can be prevented. The new, read-only map can be found here: https://vatsul.com/HnHMap/map?markers=e ... .84&zoom=3

Ideally I'd like to enable editing again (I'm not adding these manually, there's way too many of them, just recreating the map was a huge pain) but I'll need better protection/backup features before I do that because I don't intend to manually recreate the entire thing again.

For the record, this is just a specific instance of Shubla's map. The original map code was to my knowledge written by several people, notably Algeralith who's hosted the map for many worlds, and the marker placement code was added by Shubla. The map tiles were kindly but at least in part unknowingly contributed by Purus Pasta Client users. I just placed a few markers and shared the link.

Shubla just added a way to import markers from another map, so it can now be backed up to allow easy reverting should it get vandalized again. The Thingwalls have been re-added to the editable map and you can continue adding Thingwalls again. Thanks, Shubla!

As much as the vandalism sucks, I can understand why someone wouldn't want a public Marauder's Map up. Looks like it's staying up anyway.

The hardcore players are going to have this information anyways, it just evens the field when everyone has access.

Are you sure you fixed the problem with vandals? I used the map to find and visit several Thingwalls a couple days ago, but now the're gone from the public map.
Here is screenshot from my ingame map (I circled the missing Thingwalls) and the corresponding location on the public map.

These Thingwalls are especially important, because they allow for quick transport between the Northern and Southeastern continents :?
