Honestly i find this game very inspiring and i wish more games would focus on fleshing out mechanics rather than 'fancy graphics' in fact the more hardware it can run smoothly on the better!

If i were ever able to motivate myself into actually learning to program/ Design i would likely use this game as inspiration for tons of mechanics. I love the Survival Genre and honestly they are all missing things this game has in spades.

+Quality system: at least in its concept and general application it works way better than say Ark and its Loot Quality. Thats pure RNG whereas the Quality system here allows for a long term sustained playstyle.

+Breeding: Goes hand in hand with the Ark Comparison, Ark wins with their novelty regarding Color Mutations but having actual beasts of burden that are tied to a quality system like above is so much more satisfying.

+World Exploration: Honestly if we ran the worlds on a regular schedule this would make 10000% more of a difference because the mapping tools make most parts of the world easily known to the entire player base within the first month or so and the player base drops pretty hard around the 6-month mark. Might be a good point to run em. I think were sitting around 10 months this world atm. .....ANYWAYS the Worldgen constantly advancing each world reset and having new lands to explore and map out are tons of fun.....honestly i enjoy this 'dead' phase due to being able to find tons of abandoned plots with Quality i likely wouldve never reached on my own

+Mining: It stimulates my inner dwarf and i find it hilarious to explain what im doing to people as 'playing modern minesweeper' (jokes aside it may be time for a rework)

Honestly i could probably list each individual mechanic that theyve developed and refined over the years EXCEPT

-Combat and Navigation feel very outdated and janky. Combat has never really meshed with me in this game and i think adding some extent of WASD motion controls would add an interesting dynamic to the art of PvP. being able to move in and out of attack ranges between openings more efficiently.....from my understanding the PvP meta in this game sounds like just layer upon layer of cheese. At the very least Pathfinding needs to be refined.

-i did say that Graphics weren't a big deal but.......we are getting time for a new Refresh. Stay Artistically inclined towards Cartoonish and Low Demand just increase the current fidelity. Never worry about Realism
so this one time at band camp.............

Thanks god no other games pursue this shit mechanic. It definitely doesn't support longevity of game.

I disagree? I don't think it's the quality system that creates that problem.

Now I think there should be more of a proficiency than a LP dump call the skill tab. Level the skill up by repeatedly using it rather than dumping LP. Maybe LP is required to buy they next tier of that crafting skill or something.

Quality is the main driving force of the game. I honestly think it's still the skill side of things that needs adjustment. Want to not soft cap this nice new wood? Go make a bunch of buckets and benches till your skill level improves

What don't you want a world full of baskets again?

I realize that also isn't a good solution, but I genuinely believe the issue isn't the Quality system itself but the Skill side of things

Jokes aside: such a great addition to the conversation. I might see the flaw in my own suggestion but someone else might not, probably a good idea to explain 'why' i should stop speaking about such a topic. possibly adding your own opinion to it. Complete honesty the suggestion was just the first thing that came to mind but i legitimately think the LP/Skill system is a decent part of it. You very quickly go from unlocking new items to just pumping skill points.

It would be interesting to have a system that allowed for drastically different Smiths. Smith A worked on purely bronze (or invested his skill specifically in that material type) while smith B worked on Steel....One that makes specific weapons or armor better than others in their field. A carpenter that works with furniture more than ships etc......the question is how to do that where it doesn't encourage botting

I believe Salam has a Ability requirement mechanic for unlocking new skills. IE "You need 100 cooking to unlock baking". I think progression like this kinda sucks and I much prefer the way they do tech progression now, being material based (dry Hides -> Leather -> soft Metal -> Hard Metal -> steel) Etc etc. they just need to keep adding steps between these like they have been doing in the recent world patches. There could be an extra step between dry hides and leather for example, or an additional step before dry hides. I think their perhaps could be a few things between getting Hard Metal and Steel that could perhaps extend the game a little too. maybe even add a few more industry progression in other areas, They added wild seeds this world for a some what farming progression they might expand on that, maybe cultivating your own seeds by cross breeding wild crops etc. maybe taming animals from wild to domestic could have a revisited to give a longer more rewarding progress that isn't just Q.

This is the type of content I want to prolong the game NOT "We have increased costs of skills and you now get 50% less LP.

I certainly have been enjoying the last few world changes in these areas and I hope next world will also focus on similar "additional steps" mindset.
