Jorbtar use the "but we're just two peopleeeee" excuses in a lot of places where it isn't really valid, but this isn't one of them. If multi-billion dollar companies using kernal level anti-cheat can't stop bots one dev from sweden sure as fuck can't.

I use bots because its been 14 years since I started playing this game and I have real commitments in my life now that mean I don't want to wake up in 8 hours to move my silkworms for a table to a cupboard so they don't die before I start work. Or log in the moment I finish work to make sure they have leaves still or don't need organising so I don't lose all the eggs.

So I don't have to log in and spend 1 hour of the evening every couple of days harvesting a massive field to feed animals. And then spend 1 hour a week culling said animals.

So I don't have to log in the moment I wake up, the moment I get in from work, the last moment before I fall asleep just to make sure the steel crucible isn't empty.

I bot because many mechanics simply take too long to do for how old I am and the things that exist in my life. That's why I bot the things that are excessive tedium to me and why I imagine most others do the same.

The people who want to maximise their efforts typically aren't actually using bots as much as you think.

The cheese bot actually got retired this world because I couldn't be bothered to update it at the world start, largely because they changed it so curds won't automatically go sour if you don't take them off a rack within a couple of hours of changing. Infact literally every body in my group stopped caring about wanting a cheese bot around the time they changed that. so, while your statement 'may' be true for some, I personally think its very inacurate.

Chacer wrote:Entering the game once every 12 hours is not that difficult, especially when you play in a group and not alone.

Unless you are playing with irl friends who are all in the same time zone and have partners/kids/jobs. Then its laregely inconvenient to everybody in your group.

Honestly I think the whole take of "bots bad, ban bots" is the wrong approach and really we should have an open discussion about why the demand for bots exists so much and what mechanics could be reasonably changed to reduce the appeal for needing bots in general.

This comment is based.

I believe Jorb even mentioned in the last stream he himself has more and more understanding of "the adult life". Maybe it is time the chores which take away play time (but don't actually create a lot of value for the player) are removed from the game. And some of the functionality bots create become part of the standard game. I do not believe a lot of people would be against a more automated approach. For example pumpkin farming (which adult with a working job wants to spend time running to each pumpkin, picking it up, going to a pile and putting it in manually), I mean..

I have been looking for a group of people to play with for the next world with this exact aspect in mind : do not spend time on things which can be automated (to a certain degree) - as excuse me - but adult life is waiting

just make buildable field that takes seeds and returns crop + seeds
runs INFINITELY
maybe needs tending once in month whatever
why write bots etc if you can just simplify mechanic

just make everythhinf work like furnaces in minecraft

Custom Clients (alts & bots included) as an instrument of world domination has its roots in Judaic Christian culture

"God gave Adam dominion over the creatures of the earth".

“Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.
It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.
By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”

In short, TLDR: custom clients contribute to the redemption of hearthlings.

Christianity has influenced our way of thinking, even where we least expect it. Christianity conceives the past as original sin, the present as redemption and the future as salvation. Science thinks in the same way: the past is ignorance, the present, research, the future is progress. It is a secularised Christianity. The outcome of this action lies in what Robert Wilson observed: man has become the most destructive geophysical force, more so than all the destruction wrought by nature.

To clarify the reasoning, let us take an example with medicine.
The science applied to health is called 'medicine'. Its purpose, as Hippocrates says, is to 'avoid avoidable evils'. Its way, as Aristotle son of a physician reminds us, is to 'help nature to heal itself. It is not the medicine that heals, but nature assisted by the medicine'.
....
Technique, on the other hand, makes possible what is impossible by nature. We need only think of artificial fertilisation, embryo freezing, organ transplantation, gender change, stem cells capable of recreating tissues, resuscitation practices, therapeutic obstinacy, not to mention genetics, capable of predicting with good approximation the ineluctable onset of diseases, right up to the limit that robs men of the unpredictability of their death.

joojoo1975 wrote:To All those who Need to bot. Do me a favor, since its not so detrimental to the game, Please do me a favor and link ALL the bots you use so that Everybody who wishes, can have the same convenience as you. Just reply with the source link and whatnot :)

So the issue is not "botting bad because reasons and um ackshually you can do stuff by yourself" it actually is "botting bad because i dont have it!"? the problem with linking the bots is that the person who wrote it has spent their precious time to make it, it is not simply smashing your keyboard for 5 minutes and that's it. It just doesn't feel right to share your work to ungrateful people, your enemies, etc. Same goes for private clients. Why should I do work for you if you act like a piece of shit later? What if the said bot breaks because of loftar changes? Should I actively fix the bot for people for free? Or not do it and get spammed day and night for an updated version? No thanks. Jorbtar should fix the game instead. Nobody is gonna do that work for them, unless its for that person specifically.

Like Pills said nobody with an actual life will play the game like intended, if they want to have actual stuff in the game instead of a stick fence and a few crates, that is. The game actively tortures any casual player with systems like steelmaking. Why bother? The bots can do the basics for you, and if you actually want to grind you will be logged in 24/7 anyway so you don't need bots in that case.

Tl;dr Fuck other people, you included. No hard feelings. Make game good.

Poor airhead, listen , read, connect your mind ... a Christian talking about Christianity or an anti-Christian talking about anti-Christianity would be cringe.

You must check you privilege. A lot of us have been playing for 10+ years and have careers + families now. Logging into a game more than once a day is unreasonable.
