Some of the fewer people on is people who have got claims and are not on nonstop like they wear. Plus the trails of random deaths people cause ofc.

If the game were super appealing to non-basement dwellers I probably wouldn't like it so much. Most people who try the game and spend a day building a pastoral cottage next a river, only to then wake up the next morning to all their goods and hides stolen and a runestone inscribed with autistic screeching, are going to quit after a few times of that happening. Others will make it a bit further til they get murdered while canoeing down the river. Some subset of those people will appreciate that there are stakes and find it makes the world feel alive, and choices feel meaningful. What is a game but a series of interesting choices.

Anyway it doesn't take a whole lot of safety sense to near-totally protect yourself from grief, aka:

Actually player retention seems incredibly high to me although it's a bit too early to tell. Did some people get killed out though? Definitely.

i see none here keeps an eye on bad reviews from steam players, or discussions on steam page. There's some insight in there, if you sift through the posts.

A full revolving door isn't necessarily retaining the occupants. Compare monthly to weekly unique users to get a better idea of retention than concurrent users:

21547 unique users have attempted to play since launch.
About 9k have logged in since 12 days from launch (a week ago.)

Eh that's h&h, but you can fight.
Use naked scouts to watch ahead, or hunt in a group.

Take care.

It can be confidently stated that the number of East Asian players has increased beyond the Legacy era with the game's launch on Steam.

Hearthlings have a right to practice their culture, that includes human sacrifice. Do you think the Spanish American conquest was justified? :|

I mean you are right the majority of players are not spruce gankers so the majority of people are not weak, but the weak people make up a significant enough minority to keep an eye on and be worth learning survival tactics over.
