One thing to keep in mind when it comes to families is the marriage (to death does us) part. That was ok when you died with 40 anyway, now that you can live routinely to beyond twice that the outlook is different.

I can understand when that eternal union looks as too long for some these days.

Also the side effects of marriage (as dictated by law and in effect the moment you sign on the dotted line) are, at least here in Germany where the 'christian' Union conservatives have been in power uninterrupted for way too long (repeatedly now in concert with the traitors that hijacked the formerly 'social' Democrats, now busy destroying every progress been made for Joe Average here the first 50 years since WW2), quite discouraging. An example is that you're not only spontaneously financially liable for the one you marry but also for all their living ancestors: spouse's parents run out of money for medical support/nursing home? You pay, even when they have been complete assholes to you since day one.

I can understand when none in their sane mind want to go that route.

I can also understand everyone who doesn't want to make children when the government actively destroys vital government services (like education, health, retirement, infrastructure, police, firefighters,...) to cater their crony friends in the private sector so these can siphon up any profits to leave the costs to the non-rich, who have to bail out these criminals when they fail from being too greedy (took three days to make that law, sadly no money left since then to fulfill the requirements law that 'guarantees' daycare for every child).

I thought it was an Egyptian who did it first by observing the shadows of monoliths at different locations?

Don't know, don't recall ever running across such facts before. I know surveying tools date back much farther than the Classic Greek period. We're still finding lost information from ancient civilizations. So much we've done over the last 500 years is just a repeat of what had been established then.

If we're being truthful, everyone has to pay more for this sort of cronyism and privatization, rich or poor. The well to do just have the money to absorb the extra cost.

The shadow thing to calculate the radius of the earth was indeed Eratosthenes, he was from Egypt, Alexandria, and he was Greek.

Also, yeah surveying tools, mainly to remember the field borders after the Nile overflows and stuff like that.

But not stuff, such as the law of noncontradiction or the cause-effect principle.

I'm going to suggest this breakdown in the family model which seems to be emerging has more to do with other factors. Female empowerment being the main factor. Women no longer require a partner. They can support themselves and can collect offspring from different partners without having to commit to a single male. If they do, often a much weaker male is selected as a cucked and disposable victim to provide income during those times when the woman finds work difficult.

Lol, wtf is this.
Can you provide any evidence to support this?

I think there's just more men bitching online because they can't get laid.

Personal experience on the latter. In every single relationship experienced by any of my friends or acquantences the male has been totally and irrevocably subjugated. If your personal experience has been different that must be nice. I can't imagine what young millenials will be facing. Reminds me of murder in HnH. Women completely dominate their partners now because they can.

On the former, a picture is worth a thousand words.

What's the likelihood that these stats are skewed and the females are being promiscuous but all the males are left out except the Chads? I couldn't be bothered digging deeper.

I hypothesize that the numbers are skewed because they aren't properly accounting for the fact that the average millenial lives with their parents well past the point that the average generation X'er got married.
They're trying to project using historical estimates based on number of partners at X years old, which doesn't take into account many relevant factors, setting up an obviously low projection.

Fact remains that young people are having less sexual partners than previous generations did at similar ages. It seems a bit of a stretch to say that they will suddenly become enormously promiscuous when they leave home...

You're also ignoring the fact that the oldest millennials are now entering their late thirties...

Well, the source of the study seems to think it relates to ugly people not getting laid:
"Researcher Jean Twenge, a millennials-expert and lead author of the two studies, told the Washington Post that the prominence of online dating as young people's primary means of getting together is a likely factor in their drooping rates of sexual activity.“It ends up putting a lot of importance on physical appearance, and that, I think, is leaving out a large section of the population,” said Twenge. “For a lot of folks who are of average appearance, marriage and stable relationships was where they were having sex ... [and dating apps may be] leaving some people with fewer choices and they might be more reluctant to search for partners at all.”

That is something I could agree with. I should add that I suspect a lot of males are being left out of this newfound sexual liberation of females.

Males can't get laid as easily as females. Any male who doesn't have females lining up for them has to exchange a lot for sex. Too much. Females are empowered and oversexed. Males are now quite the opposite.

No money means no sex.

No popularity means no sex.

No knowledge or experiences to offer means no sex.

Females gravitate toward and compete for a small number of males. If they aren't getting laid it's because they are holding out for the same guy everyone else is lining up for.

Getting sex at all has always been much more of a challenge for males but now it's difficult to get a partner at all. Women no longer need a partner.
