One thing to keep in mind when it comes to families is the marriage (to death does us) part. That was ok when you died with 40 anyway, now that you can live routinely to beyond twice that the outlook is different.
I can understand when that eternal union looks as too long for some these days.
Also the side effects of marriage (as dictated by law and in effect the moment you sign on the dotted line) are, at least here in Germany where the 'christian' Union conservatives have been in power uninterrupted for way too long (repeatedly now in concert with the traitors that hijacked the formerly 'social' Democrats, now busy destroying every progress been made for Joe Average here the first 50 years since WW2), quite discouraging. An example is that you're not only spontaneously financially liable for the one you marry but also for all their living ancestors: spouse's parents run out of money for medical support/nursing home? You pay, even when they have been complete assholes to you since day one.
I can understand when none in their sane mind want to go that route.
I can also understand everyone who doesn't want to make children when the government actively destroys vital government services (like education, health, retirement, infrastructure, police, firefighters,...) to cater their crony friends in the private sector so these can siphon up any profits to leave the costs to the non-rich, who have to bail out these criminals when they fail from being too greedy (took three days to make that law, sadly no money left since then to fulfill the requirements law that 'guarantees' daycare for every child).
