What I want to know is: why is this being brought to light now? If the DDOSing thing is true, it seems several people knew about it and didn't tell the devs.

this is the problem of posting chats from anywhere. Nobody has the context. Nobody actually knows the participants. Most everyone jumps to conclusions.
