Never fight adders, use a horse. The combat moves you gain from them you can gain elsewhere.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

To overtyped: As per usual, I had to learn things the hard way. This time I'm definetly gonna need an alchemist.

Swan blood. It's forever on my hands now. I've snapped necks of countless of squirrels, rabbits and small birds; I've sliced even more of bats at this moment, but somehow killing a swan doesn't feel right to me. Like something pure and fragile that was brought into this world by nothing less than a miracle is now permanently gone. And it's all my fault.

To MagicManICT: And I thought I felt heavy feels because I killed a swan.
A sadder and a wiser man, I'll rise tomorrow mourn.
Meanwhile: I need no alchemical serum to heal permanent nerve damage! All I need is a healthy meal of who-knows-how old root I just dug out of the dirt. That is the way Old Gods intended it to be.

I had no idea dirt turns back into landscape if you leave it lying on the ground! This is so amazing and frustrating at the same time.

You can create some interesting terrain by leaving full dirt stockpiles outside your claim but it's best to leave them inside if you want to keep it flat as they won't decay there. I've seen some villages that I'm almost convinced let them decay on purpose just on the edge for those pointy hills.

That seems about right, though I think they used many more piles.
Congrats on the steel industry, any quality is a big help.
