They were never really an independent state... well I take that back: there were the short-lived Ukrainian People's Republic and Ukrainian State after the Russian Revolution in 1917... lol

Victoria Nuland wrote their constitution for fuck's sake. Also the word "ukrainia" literally means "borderlands" and was traditionally used to refer to other areas bordering Russia, directly translated to English would be "the Ukraine" or "the borderlands". The only reason useful idiots like you call it "Ukraine" now is because you were literally told to by the Ukraine gov't and Western media. From wikipedia:

I don't "believe" one way or the other, and I really couldn't care. Again it's not a conflict I see any benefit to us joining into. I only see pain and misery if we do, which seems like an inevitability considering how many dupes like you are out there.

I'm more worried about the severe problems in my own nation, problems which people like you have been successfully distracted from. This war would've been over in 2 days with minimal casualties if not for the US war machine, 5 Eyes, Blackrock, Vanguard, the IMF, the WEF, the CFR, NATO, the corrupt Ukranian gov't, Western corporations, etc... making this whole ordeal as drawn out and bloody as possible in a war THEY KNOW Ukrainians can't win.

Now, dagrimreefah is putting it in a very dumb way, but there's a good argument to be made that Ukraine was a Russian puppet state (similar to Belarus) up until 2014. However, what he's leaving out is that - to the best of my knowledge - Ukraine was genuinely independent during the 90s. It's been nominally independent since the fall of the Soviet Union (arguably before that as it was its own state within the Soviet Union), so to which extent it's been independent in the past thirty years depends on how much foreign influence still counts as 'independent'. There's also plenty of countries that can't say no to the USA that we still consider 'independent'.
