Don't you remember the donate button that had a picture of a guy pointing a knife at you and holding out his hand for your cash? They've always had a sense of humour (see: "pre-emptively" answered questions, fistfighting with swarms ants in the game, the extremely loud and alarming sound of dropping something in the water). They likely want to ease the pain of pay2play with some humour, but it's no joke.
