There's a solution to this. Just enable taxation. Keep everything including destruction of property. People will know what to do then.

Only first post costs the leather and stuff. The following ones are 30 blocks each, and an island is op and should cost a lot to secure anyways.

in a game where you pay to die, especially with not fleshed out animal updates, the playing field should at least be even.

If you have issues with the fundementals of Haven & Hearth then go elsewhere. There are clearly a lot of individuals who are very content to play it in its current state, the game isn't going to change for you.
