Will the world restart after the alpha is done?

If you're buying into Haven on the belief that there will never be another reset,... well, I have a bridge to sell you. Great price, too.

There will be a reset at some point, odds are likely sooner rather than later since this is a major update to the game engine.

This turns me off from playing so hard. It is understandable that reset would be needed going from alpha. Lets call it like that. But if the resets will generally continue on P2P model, well then i`m totally not happy with that.

Altough Jorb said he wants to cease the resets, and keep it in one world, i think that will not happen any time soon. And wasting money and time on something i will eventually lose (even worse - not due to other players, but resets) isnt something i want to do.

But are we talking games or life here?

I don`t have anything about your policy and all, i fully understand that it probably just isnt suitable for me. So please dont try to derail my thought from one topic to another. If i would want to compare games to life, i would say, ill beter spend those 10$ on bottle of cheap vodka and waste my time, money and health. But i am sepaking id rather spend those bucks on a game where the world is constant.

By all means. The very premise of this game is to have a changing and changeable world.

Besides - this game is permadeath, every money you throw at it will in fact have been for "nothing" if you die - as you start over. So I fail to see your argument?

I prayed to Wurm Devs to wipeout ghost towns and forbiden lands, because world ovebuilded with empty villages and houses, big part of servers space wasted, without wipes this shit will soon consume whole map here and there will be no space to live, and now question for thread starter, do you want to live in this world?

Or, maybe if some day map in HnH will procedualy grow, even then wipes will be necessary to clean server from trash (Sorry, I don't have knowledge about hnh server organisation).

Jorb, can this world "recover" and "heal" himself? I mean we had a lot of green meadows with paved roads and squares that were big settlements before with large areas covered with stomps around this places. So, will Haven recover the forest and biomes in some time?
This might be a kind of "natural" way of slow and gradual wipe of the world - time will get what it might get.

To some extent there's decay, but I mean we do not simulate the full rock cycle, tectonic drift, erosion &c. There are limits to how well the map can rejuvenate itself.

Building decay, grass that will grow on dirt and through pavement after some time, will be enough.

Random cavein's in unreinforced mines to renew resources will be good idea I believe.

P.S. If possible, equalization of unnatural created hills\mountains of dirt (Some dreams of Mine).

P.P.S. Collapse of unmaintained player created mine entrances with whole mine inside.
