The previous system was random. You scanned a stretch of swamp or mountain terrain and had a fixed chance of finding something or not. The new one is less random, since it apparently also depends on what you do in the game.
That's not a bad thing in itself, but even for legit players the rarity of some curios has increased like an order of magnitude, while the LP gain was not adjusted.

So eh... even if you find your first bluebell after a month of playing, it's a rather meh experience, especially if it ends up being q10...

The system just needs a little tweaking and then it'll probably be fine.

More variety and quality forageable curios that aren't covered by the fate system would fix stuff up nicely.

We lost variety with those curios being made rarer, and a lot of the forageables got nerfed with mental weight requirements.

It probably does but I still don't see how it is less random than the previous system. In the past you would require a set number per*exp to see certain curiosities all the time but once you got to that point there was no "fixed chance" you either saw it if it was there or the area you're in got picked clean already.

You could easily go and visit a mountain and if it hadn't been picked through yet you were pretty much guaranteed not just one good curiosity but likely several.

I can't claim to know how exactly the fate system works but I think for the most part it does seem rather fair. I am a bit confused how someone might be able to find 5-6 bluebells a day, I will agree with you there that is too much for one person but then again I am sure these people are also playing for a large number of hours each day.

Also I've only ever found one bluebell myself.

I hope people who shout "I find 5/6 per day" are lying through their teeth or not finding anything for the next month, because I have yet to see a bolete, glimmer or bluebell more than once a week

Since world start (this includes bugged time) I've found 3 boletes, 2 chiming bluebells, and 5-6 glimmers. Glimmers are far too common to be fated. They're still rare as hell, but there's no way glimmers are covered under that system. And from the stories I hear I'm really on the lucky end of things.

2 boletes, 1 chiming.

An old boot and a wondrous woodshaving. No idea if they are fated.

I've found three bolettes, one bluebell, and ten glimmermoss in the past couple weeks.
Glimmer is most defeintely not fated, just rare like Bloodstern.

Bloated boletes blow bad; barely beneficial. Bluebells beast.
