Ignoring the subscription part, your statement is still true. MMO progression and permadeath make for a niche market.

Agree with OP. Thanks a lot guys.

I'm an English teacher and new to the game, but something like this is what I like. While I am waiting for leathers to cure, etc., I can be reading some of the papers that I need to grade. Don't of it so much distracting me from concentrating on my grades so much as helping me to push forward through my piles of essays. I like that it takes a while to do stuff. This pushes out those casual min/maxers who typically don't have patience. I have played for less than a month, and I'm already a subscriber. More please!

Farming would be a less painful if seeds didn't automatically combine unless they were the exact same quality.

Compartmentalize your farm more so that everything you plant in compartment A will be the same quality, as that's how it works. If you planted it at the same time and the seeds were of the same quality, those crops will be the same quality when harvested because they'll have the same random change.

So what you're saying is, I need to change my way of farming to be less efficient because of a mechanic or interface element that doesn't work right.

No, doesn't work the same as it used to. it's working as intended as far as I can tell. I'm getting quality increases. The problem become propagating those increases across my entire farm (which is small except for barley and flax).
