TkSpurns
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Tutorial: left click to move, right click everything. Many items can be combined by picking up the item with left mouse click and then right clicking another item. Items can be dropped by picking them up and then clicking on the ground. You have a menu to the lower right that has various actions under Adventure, buildings you can contruct, and items you can Craft.

How much more of a tutorial do you need?
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

If the goal is to catch and keep the attention of new players - and I think it should, since communities deteriorate very fast without new blood - then there are pretty easy steps to make things more noob friendly. It doesn't have to be a two hour long hold your hand and exhaustively explain the rules tutorial, in fact I find those obnoxious.

First and most important make it possible to HOVER OVER things. If I want to know what "Exploration" does I should be able to hold my mouse over it and get a primer. If I don't give a flock then I can just not do that. It looks like the devs are working on this since for example the "Bond of Blood and Soil" item has a very nice description and I didn't have to wiki it or anything despite it being totally unfamiliar to me.

Second make sure a noob spawns in an area where all the tools he needs to get started are available. I spawned in an area with no rocks and if I hadn't been in previous versions I would never have stuck with the game. Code the game to only spawn people in parts of the noob area that have a healthy CURRENT rock count.

Then you should probably cook it lol. Anything that's eatable has the Eat option on right click... How are we getting these questions with you having nearly 900 posts and account from 2009? Help me understand.
