Now that palibashing doesn't exist, pallisades gain soak over time and sieging is harder, new players have more than enough time to get some protection set up. Also, the new siege system is going to see no use at all if the world is made bigger, given that it takes special resources to make siege items now and it also requires a concentrated effort to siege somewhere. Increasing the world size is going to result in one of the most boring, least active worlds we've ever had.

These hermit players that want to be 100% left alone hours away from any contact don't consider that perspective though, sometimes I think they forgot the game that they are playing. I think it's pretty selfish to want to expand the world so they can go and hide away in a corner and not interact with any other people ever. That does indeed make for such a boring game.

dont think it is ''selfish'' since more then a half players that have found your location will try to raid it or just destroy all they can "just for fun"...

Just to be clear ... that's not the reason I'm saying it, I have never lived in exclusion in any world I've played, though I do hermit, I have always formed a network of small groups and other hermits around me and enjoy interaction, with the bigger villages as well.
What I'm not happy with is not being able to even get started as a lone player without constant griefing. I have never experienced it this bad in any of the other worlds I've played which is what makes me believe the world is too small for the number of players we currently have. I also agree last world was too big.

@ Kalacia - kk and thanks. :)

Sorry maybe that came off a little harsh, all I meant is that all players should have to put in the same amount of effort and work for their defense as most other players beyond just going out really far. Being far away is a viable defense mechanic because traveling in this game for hours at a time is not fun game play and that is not a good reason to expand the world. There's a reason you can build walls.

That is why palisades exist you know? Sure they take a little bit of time to make and you have to play it safe until then, but we all did. There were people with rage on day 1 going out and killing people. We all had to hide until we got a palisade set up, and hope we didn't run into a roaming pack of murderers.

Palisades cannot be bashed by hand anymore, once you've got one set up, you're essentially as safe as you can ever be. Not only that, but they gradually gain soak now, so you don't have to pray and hope people don't find you for the next 2 days. And then, once you've got it set up, to knock it down people have to build expensive siege engines and spend days bashing at it. I doubt most people are going to bother bashing down some poor hermits palisades because it's just not worth it.

i think the main reason for world expansion for me is creating new zones with localized resources that not being already claimed. I've played this world since first day (sadly, late evening) and most resources near (like an hour of travelling) was claimed at saturday's morning. So, for newly players they are lost. They almost lost even for me (though I had all of metal instruments even before i found my first www on saturday) - i don't care of it too much for now, but will be glad to know that there are some undiscovered wonders somewhere far beneath the horizon )

ok, palisades...I see you love it, but why should I? in w8 i had an alternative - build a fort or hide somewhere far away. So why should I use YOUR way to play?

So find an inconspicuous cave and hide in it?

If you're not going to put in the effort to defend yourself, you have no right to complain that the world is too dangerous. The tools exist, if you don't use them you should entirely expect to be raided or killed.

Because this is an MMO. If nobody can find you and you have no effect on others' experiences, you're not contributing to the richness of the game.

That isn't to say that you shouldn't play the way you want - but the devs have no reason to incentivize a playstyle that makes the game boring for others.
