If this is case, and gate was open, ANY PLAYER, kin or not, would have been able to walk in with full permissions, leaving no scents

Nah its not permissions, if he clicked on a name and showed like 20 more pixels south we could see what colour the permissions are set to. If OP just posted a screenshot of his village walls with claim toggled and the permissions for people in the white group
we would have figured out if this was a bug or not 3h ago (assuming one of the villagers didn't party the thief), but It looks like OP is just looking to cause drama and unwilling to cooperate.

I would love to know more about this. I swung by the village but I can't see anything obvious and noone is on. Feel very free to send me as detailed a report as you can conjure up.

Can you do something about this ugly wall gap next update? having to bash a palleside just to make this little bit of wall look connected is a bit harsh and non-newbie friendly.

I think Jesterz is onto something..

I'd have to test with the fence, but it would seem this gap was the cause of your breach.

More than just ugly, if a wall doesn't completely connect underneath the cover of a claim, then it won't provide the visitor debuff.

Let us know if this palisade is the palisade of your raided location.

I dont think that gap is breachable. I remember palisade with only its corner destroyed can be breached but not those.

Not "breachable" in that sense, like you could walk through it, but that because it isn't connected, then it doesn't count as a contiguous wall.

A contiguous wall, beneath a claim, is required for the village debuff.

Wasn't it just a gate?

No. Just a gate.

Lol, okay.

So long as gate is underneath the claim then. xD

Investigated this as far as I could. Found the guy who stole, with the help of a witness who had kinned him when he left the village. The thief claims to just have walked onto the claim and taken the stuff without any interruption from any game mechanic, quite simply, and claimed to have thought the place abandoned. Thief seems like an honest, small-dime guy, and does not even have the theft skill yet.

Village has permissions set to the white group, but only allowing for trespassing. Testing this works as intended -- i.e. I can trespass but not steal.

Visitor debuff layout seems to have integrity.

Two possible explanations: Either there is some bug which allows one to steal without theft skill and from underneath a visitor debuff, or the village had one way or another managed to set white permissions to allow for theft for some duration.

I am not entirely sure what happened, but my suspicions lean toward user error, and unless I have more to go on that is also how I intend to write this off.

Might start logging permission changes for the future.
