The odds of Earth or Saturn losing its rotational place around the sun is extremely small. However I will entertain your possibility.

As the two worlds came closer earthquakes and weather patterns would become so wild and extreme most all structures on the planet would be in ruins and billions already dead. The world would begin to heat up the closer we got. If anyone was still alive by the time we reached Saturn's rings we would see the icy shard light up our skies in a spectacle not seen since early Earth. The Ozone layer will collapse and solar radiation will sterilize and kill any life left. Then in a massive fiery explosion we would impact Saturn creating a new storm on the planet that would possibly last millions of years. The Earth would be gone Saturn would remain.

You will have solace to know that dust will not know.

Facebook is a great source of comedy. I remember on 4/20 there was a picture getting passed around that said on 4/20 all the planets will align and cause a green moon and a bunch of people were gushing about it.

Meanwhile I sit there like....

Burinn wrote:Saturn is a gas giant though no? We might die because of the tides and friction but wouldn't the planet "go right through it" so to speak since it isn't solid?

Just because Saturn consists mainly of elements that are gaseous on Earth doesn't really mean that it's mostly gas, though:
Wikipedia wrote:Despite consisting mostly of hydrogen and helium, most of Saturn's mass is not in the gas phase, because hydrogen becomes a non-ideal liquid when the density is above 0.01 g/cm3, which is reached at a radius containing 99.9% of Saturn's mass.

Liquid hydrogen most likely has more than enough viscosity to crush Earth more or less as if it collided with a solid body. Not that Earth would still be intact by that point, of course, but still.

Do not despairing! I think you can do what you will put the mind to. I can believe in my friend's ability.
