Salem is dead, and that's the main problem as for me. I'll back to it if JC will make at least 1 serious update.
Hafen is alive, but it sucks - i've played this all in legacy, why should i play it once again? No reason behind it.

This game is still the same in core. Hedgehogs and knarrs don't make it new, as well as other upgrades comparing to legacy.
Nah, okey, items stockpiling. Items stockpiling is the best thing since legacy.

Both are great games,
I like how in Salem you can build automated base defenses (torchposts/braizers) that attack people raiding your base or trespassing on your land.
I like how in Haven there are more types of trees, types of animals, and different ores/rocks you can mine.
I like how in Salem the combat system is better, it has more of a strategic component to it, dodging your enemy's "bull run" attack for instance and then hitting him while he's stunned.. In haven you just keep all your defensive cards up and there is no real strategy.
I like how in Haven you can tame/raise cows, horses, pigs, and sheep. Salem has no tamable animals
I like how in Salem there is a single quality component, instead of Haven's 3, I also like how once an oven for instance is built there is no reason to destroy it and rebuild as the quality is in the food items not the oven.
I like how in Haven you can make stockpiles of almost everything, Salem requires you to build a stock bin and only a limited type of items can be put there.
I can go on and on, but both have pros and cons and both are free to play.
10/10 for both
