This film is perhaps not the best ever, but if you like strange films, watch it.

@ Onep, yeah I enjoyed The Labyrinth too and am also a huge sci-fi fan though I have to admit I am usually disappointed by sci-fi films, I quite enjoyed a film I saw a couple of wks ago though called 10 Cloverfield Lane, I hadn't read about it beforehand so wasn't quite sure which direction it was going in which made it quite interesting.

I also want to add Watchmen and Moon to my list, now that I remember them .... and The lovely bones. :)

Apocalypse Now is also a great film, I agree.

@ Dageir - talking of strange films - one of the strangest and most unsettling films I have ever watched was a film called Eraserhead by David Lynch (1970's era) I couldn't even watch it in one go as it was just too odd, an ex boyfriend kept insisting I watch it though so I did finally manage to see it all, it left a lasting unsettled feeling. :(

Another great sci-fi film that struck me is Daft Punk's Electroma. It's quite a touching short film about two robots who want to become humans and undergo a sort of plastic surgery to cover their metallic bodies with flesh. The small town of robots begin to mob up and chase them. During the chase they realize their flesh is melting under the desert sun and give up hope eventually committing suicide alone in the desert of despair. It quite reminds me of myself and struggling with the impossibility of being something you're not and how the world doesn't always agree with your choices.
Sadly, despite being a Daft Punk film, there is no Daft Punk soundtrack. Still a great film though.

This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

Strange films? Jug Face.

I like 2001 but also found the slow parts tedious. It seems a common theme among sci-fi space films, I guess the directors try to portray the vast emptiness and timelessness of space. Sunshine, Moon, and even Blade Runner seem to do it at times.

What about other Tarantino's films? Not talking about his early ketchup-blood slashers, but "4 rooms"? "Reservoire dogs"? "Dusk til' dawn"?

Also Inglourious Basterds, Hateful Eight and Django Unchained (the "d" is silent). You should catch up on his work since 2007. It's quite good.
