I can't claim to be an experienced designer, but I can tell you that it's a very common emotion from anything where you do any experimentation and you think you have the "right" line of implementation. I've had things where I thought I'd just look into them and get surprised they work, and other things I thought were the answer, and then fail, and usually feel disappointed when they do. Being disappointed doesn't mean you get all moody and depressed and want to kill yourself for failing.
I'd be discouraged, too, after having a great idea for a major change and then finding out it doesn't work after actually testing it.
You might think otherwise if you were the polish guy who's village got wiped because he has let a runestone at Jorb's village saying "Nice village, I'll return back soon".The_Lich_King wrote:I missed out on so much ;( wish i had known about this game back in those days.

Being discouraged and feeling a slight disappointment are different things in my book.

Or... if you were the guy who's house was destroyed and all grinded pearls have disappeared, because their villagemates took over Jorb's village and called it "The land of owned hobbits".
Or... an owner of an vault called "Jorb is Homo"

Life of a scientist.
Or of any kind of pioneer for that matter. I suppose only haven cloners will have it easy.
Seriously, though, the devs have only their own stubbornness to blame.
