I agree. WTF is even the point of the popular vote? The electoral college was an interesting way to deal with a lot of problems in a day when vote counting was unreliable and the fastest form of letter delivery was horseback and ship. Today, we have a nearly accurate voting system (can still be cheated, but takes extra effort) and means of communicating massive amounts of information in mere seconds all the way around the world. The electoral college needs to go the way of the Pony Express

Speaking of which... the last census, our grand state of Kansas couldn't come to agreements on voter district changes. They failed to meet the legal deadlines. The court stepped in, and there went decades of district changes.
