You may want to consider getting a custom client, it'll help with a lot of things, especially seeing dangerous wildlife easier. I recommend Amber Client by romovs, just for its simplicity and generally it adheres to the original artstyle of the default client: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=40400

Yeah, the real punishment is not the permadeath, but the fact you can't reuse your char's name :D

Didn't know there's a timer now.

Good luck to Anno II
Also the custom clients show a red circle around aggressive animals, so the can't ninja you.

I kept spontaneously falling over after that, and then I poofed into the afterlife.

Probably leeches. If you were attacked by an animal and didn't eat enough to increase Energy over 8000% to start healing, you have only 1shp (soft hit points) they'll KO you every time they bite and also feast on your hhp (hard hit points that determine maximum amount of shp.) When you trawl through swamp, leeches attach themselves into your empty equipment slots and can be removed like any equipment. Bloated leeches can be lest to occupy the slots. They currently do not eat you ever again and also block fresh leeches from attaching.

Oh... well, that explain a lot. I did indeed have leeches on me, but when I read the tool tip I saw that they healed some kinds of injuries, so I thought maybe it was okay to leave them there since I had some from the aforementioned badger attack. Well, it sounds like I was horribly wrong, and now I know to remove them when I see them next time. Also, I absolutely was not trying to fill my birch bark thingy-ma-doodle with swamp water, which is probably how I got the leeches. Nope.

Edit: Anno also had a concussion and a variety of other injuries from both the badger and the bear, so I figured that probably had something to do with it too.

Sorry i'm a tad late, either way Welcome, hope to see you around the forums and possibly in game, though i've taken a tiny hiatus while I go job hunting. If you ever need any help there are tons of great people on the forums that will give you all the information you'll ever need. :)

Reminds me of the time where I wanted to swim over a river to reach an object that looked like wheat to me (but was a flavour object, as I later found out).
Good old times...

That is extremely accurate. Rest in peace, Anno, with your birch bark thingy-ma-doodle. You died proud, at least.
