Now I was trying to restore the autoupdate but that doesn't seem to work either.

Just because Google spies on you doesn't make it alright for Microsoft to do it, though. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Furthermore, you speak as if "being spied upon" is a purely boolean thing; because your phone spies on you it "doesn't matter" if your computer also does it, which is not true. The more tracks you leave, the more traceable you are, and vice versa. Minimizing one's exposure is meaningful even if it's not "complete".

You can't take long enough when it comes to avoiding windows 10.

If you're computer is running 8.x, 10 is a better system. Problem is 7 only has a couple years of life left. Otherwise it's a solid OS, if not as detailed as *nix.

If the privacy issues are the complaint, look at the Android, iOS, and other device's EULA and TOS.

Sometimes it's just easier to reinstall Windows. Even with a fresh install Windows Update can take forever... well, several hours, anyway.

Completely off topic, but damn I could say a ton on this. I completely agree. I don't feel like rewriting essays that are already posted elsewhere on the Internet, though. I'll just say that searching for "Privacy Rights" is a good place to start, and the more everyone else knows about something, the less secure it is... namely your personal life, credit history, and worse. Just remember that impersonations are a real thing, and not a comedic trick of satire.

They are collecting users feedback, logs and statistics to improve their stuff. And people are thinking its somekind of conspiracy where government is spying on them.
And if you really think they are spying on you looking at weird stuff in internet. Then dont complain to them. Go and use some other software. There's plenty of options available alternative to windows.
