I think that it is about time that a new, bolder strategy is attempted.
Honestly, I can't entirely blame the people that 'refuse' to come back or stop playing because they expect/want a reset. Yes, there are tons of reasons and things that should be fixed in the game for it to have a nicer, more enjoyable (and lasting) end-game for all. I'm not talking about the reasons these people have because they're fair in their own way.
I'm just talking about this specific act, of leaving/refusing to play until another reset happens. They do it because, so far, it worked. Might take some time but it works.
So I think that perhaps a new approach should be attempted. Alongside system reworks, new content, new things to look forward and such, Jorb & Loftar should come forward and say exactly the opposite thing, like... "There WILL NOT be a reset at least until July 2018" (just an example) and write that on stone.
That way, all "attempts" to subvert the game and try to "force" a new world are pointless; people can either sit down and wait that long or find new purpose in the game, come back to it, etc... Of course, like I said, that won't work if not done alongside new content, improvements, reworking of systems, etc...
But, on the other way around, it is very distressing and worrying to work on huge building projects, terraforming projects, etc... having to live with the fear of being told of a reset soon. It drags me away from the game more and more, especially now that I'm on such big projects, and being this what attracts me to Haven (creating things, community, etc...) I must admit that I'm not sure if I'd remain in the game with such inconsistent cycles, never knowing if the 2 million dirt I've moved in a month was for nothing.

I really like the idea of more persistent/permanent worlds - and we all know it is their ultimate goal - but then they must be the ones to strive for it, that must put their feet in place and say "No, we won't reset because you ask, reset will not come in at least x time, play it or stop whining" because the other way has clearly not worked so far

although there's also the problem of... well... money. So yeah, it is indeed a tough question.
But honestly, if you ask me, I really hope W10 will - AT LEAST - get into 2018. If not more

Of course, this is just the way I see it as someone with long-lasting projects and such. I'm sure the game becomes boring or dull for the people that only care about grinding Q and have everything in a couple of weeks

But hey, maybe you guys should try massive building or community projects too xD
