In Finland the most major protest we have had recently was in 2015 when some guys broke a window. They were dumb and didnt cover their faces so they were caught pretty quickly.
We like to do elections and stuff drink our depression away instead of violent protests.

also in Croatia the most violent protests are when school teachers etc. go on a strike and don't go to work until they get a raise, which they never do and then they go back to work again.

People in California have been cautioning police and politician that allowing black bloc antifa to run wild in the strrets would create enogh fiction between left wing and right wing radicals that people would get killed.

I am more worried about people with che guevara T's and hammer and sickle flags. America has already built up moral disgust against nazis, but communism is still praised and openly defended by rioters and students who should really know their history better.

Yes, we should all learn our history better. Soviet Russia and Communist China are not equivalent to all forms of communism that have existed in history. If you do not know of which I refer to, then I'll leave it as an exercise for you to find the successful communist communities and societies in history. No, there haven't been many, but there haven't been many true attempts at communist communities, either.

Is communism a form of government I'd like to live under? Not really, as personal freedoms do get suppressed for the greater good. Is it, in theory, better than some other methods of governance that we, the human race, have tried? For sure. Just like everything else, it has its flaws, but it isn't an utter failure.

Another note from history... Democracy was considered an utter failure for centuries because the Greeks used it and they fell to conquest the same way every great nation has after time. Guess we shouldn't use democratic governments since it was such a failure in history.

There is a reason why the communist party was banned alongside the nazi one in Germany, why a bunch of European countries still have the communist symbols banned federally, and why communism still holds the record for the world’s worst genocides. Marx stated he was against the notion of human rights, just like Hitler did. My point, which you just demonstrated, is that decades of propaganda have already made the general population averse to nazism, but that's not the case with communism.

The reason I worry is because those people in my post are either
a. expecting not to be considered genocide apologists only because 1.5 billion people, including Marx, got communism wrong, or are
b. oblivious to facts and statistics regarding the ideology they are defending

+1 for that post, not necessarily because I agree with what you said, but because of how you said it.

TBH, communism is still alive today in labor movements all around the world. Social programs designed to elevate civilization as a whole instead of letting a large part of a population wallow in poverty, disease, and hunger exhibit the better ideals of communism. I'm not sure it will ever be a primary form of governance as I'm not sure it is capable of doing such. However, we should take the better parts of it and implement it in how we deal with each other, just like we took the better parts of republican and democratic governing from the Ancient Greeks and Romans.

MagigManCT. The way you discuss communism in the first post seems like an aesthetic abstraction ( and my Frankenstein thing is too). I'm unsure if aesthetic is the proper word to use. But it's not meant as insult. The second post is you being forthright. +1 for honesty on the internet. Ann Rand's version of capitalism is cold and unforgiving, unyielding and atheistic. I dont like her world. Not one bit. I greatly dislike Marx's world - and all the horrible variants.

And my goofy Frankenstein riff? I feel that nasty, mean, violent Leninist-Maoist commisars have, over the course of the past fififteen/twenty years, hijacked the political process in my home state of California.
