I'm with onep here. Taking the context of the last ~500 years we're living in a modern utopia. We have however hit a rough patch, but that's not entirely unnatural.
It is difficult to reconcile the utopia the first world has created against the third world we left behind, especially given the sophistication of modern technology.
Ultimately, I think humans as a species need conflict to thrive, and when there's not enough environmental or external conflict (disease, famine, wild animals) we tend to create internal conflict (war, mass shootings, third wave feminism).
incidentally, this philosophy can be applied to haven and hearth with similiar outcomes.
