3D Printed Guns?

Plastic guns have been around for a couple decades now. They're disposable and undetectable, but usually only good for one or two rounds. There are high temp plastics that can handle the heat, but my understanding is that they can't handle the pressure.

FYI, this bit has been circulating the internet for almost 10 years now.

Not really. There are home sized CNC milling machines with the precision of commercial models, which is all you need to make parts for... well anything that doesn't need to be forged.

So is Inn of Brodgar just turning in clickbait bullshit now?

i looked into alot of 3d metal printing and so far the best solutions i found was steel and copper filaments that i can print with, im not into spending 150k-1.5 million on them thought the fuse looks interesting. The cases i made with them are pretty strong but not aluminum strong or steel strong but still pretty good. If i wanted to really make a gun the best option would be to 3d print the parts for a gun and create molds for each part using them as the base cast then get a cheap smelting oven and melt some scrap metal and pour and then file down any imperfections. But at the end of the day this is way too much effort to kill someone or multiple people when there are many many more effective ways. ill stick to printing my work designs or miniature tanks thought my last one i sat on it and the turret drooped.

From what I've read the barrel of the gun is the tricky part that ends up getting too hot and messing up after a few uses, but as someone already said, a workaround for that is to just use some metal pipe.

Seems pretty possible to make a fairly reliable gun using mostly 3D printed parts.

The thing about not being able to get bullets does make it harder, but I don't live in America so I'm asking, how common is it to find bullets in a person's home? Or in the glovebox of a car(?)

Depends how careless people are. I had a like 2 shells rolling around in my passenger seat for a month or two. My grandpa had a few shotgun shells in the back of his truck for ages. Other than that, I've never really seen loose ammo sitting in a car.

But honestly, I don't think anyone is going to go through the effort of 3d printing a gun to shoot up a school, it's more of an enthusiast hobby. Making improvised explosive devices is a million times easier and more effective. All you need is like high school chemistry or google. inb4 cia watchlist, use TOR. Also, true Patriots measure their freedom by the number of government watchlists they're on.

It's some old pasta, but it's still good: https://www.northeastshooters.com/xen/t ... ng.179192/

It's already been mentioned here a bunch that plastic guns are great for one or two rounds, but beyond that they'll explode/melt pretty quick. (tediore weapons come to mind). Great for homicides or assassinations, but not so great for mass shootings.

Yeah I never really considered school shootings to be a real threat from these, but I can definitely see people going to great lengths for even one shot at a person they don't want around anymore (specially if it's much harder to track the crime back to you)

Gang initiation comes to mind

Yeah, was about ready to merge this in with the other thread, but you know...

Figured you'd been around long enough to know how political--as in real politics, not silly game matters--things can get around here. Maybe not. Last really hot topic I recall was an economics discussion, but the US elections last year got wild, too.

I was around, it was just as cancerous then. Seems like every time something controversial happens we get a spurt of clickbait threads. But, I suppose it's just because people want to know the opinions of their favorite community: the Haven and Hearth forums!
