Hasn't China been trying to "fix" this with a transcontinental highway? I seem to recall this factoid from a news article a few years ago about it. The funding for it was the huge issue. If I remember the facts correctly (been a few years, doubt it), China doesn't (didn't) want to pay for it in the long term, just make bad rate interest loans to the poor countries that can't afford to pay their portion up front. The government was for it, but there was a big fuss among some of the people that would be affected. I'm sure there are details I'm forgetting, and it may not have been Romania.

Doubt it was us. We are Merkels yes men now. We wouldn't dare take Chinese money or mutty would be very upset.

Essentially China is "investing" billions into developing countries but this is done through loans. It wouldn't be bad but it seems China's goal is to debt-trap countries. Sri Lanka built massive port with loan money and was unable to make the payments as port saw almost no traffic. They ended up having the port and some territory around it handed to China for 99 years. Ironically this is quite similar situation to what happened to Hong Kong. China now has naval base next to India, one of it's main rivals.

I seem to recall at least one news story about them trying to push through poorer countries in eastern Europe, too, to connect to the established road networks of more developed and richer central and western European countries. There really isn't much reason for them to stop so early, is there? Romania stuck in my head due to its location and ability to connect into the Mediterranean countries.

I think russia is pretty good at wildfires as well! At least I remember that a few years ago there were so many wildfires in Russia that you could smell and see the smoke in Helsinki, hundreds of kilometers away from Russia.

I can believe it, especially when there's a wind to carry it.

Grass fire makes me think of another thing about where I am: cows, or nature's own greenhouse gas factory. Seems like if you were to go by weight, there likely is as many cows in the US as there are people... but that's probably just fancy numbers playing in my head to try to make a joke, so don't try to fact check that!

I think wildfire is a problem everywhere, and also rain, overflow, and so on .... you know why? cause we are dumb .... nobody take care of the land anymore, nobody dig and clean tranches or take care of old trees and the forest overall and so on.
Yeah, when it's too late .... men paid, get there and destroy anything ground zero like. But there isn't anybody left that do those stuff for love, cause they love their place and want to take care .... and knowledge is also required, a lot, to properly do those stuff.
These days we destroy the place where we live, then we go on holiday to Honolulu ... lets start to cut the money, and make so that people do their holidays where they live, then I'd like to see if we all keep polluting and throwing shit on the ground or even worse cementig everywhere .... if we have to spend our holidays on that green and so on.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if those "wildfires" are caused by man on purpose. That's what happens when money is the only value. And don't listen to media bullshits, those are not caused by pyromaniac, those are fathers that needs money for their family, and if they have to burn a forest to work and get money they'll do exactly that, no matter what, those are the Gods of which I speak usually here and please lets start to be afraid of them again.

I think it may be very possible.
People eat a lot of meat, cows are very heavy and they take years to grow into adult form, so at any given time, there must be shit-ton of cows growing, and some being used for milk-industry as well.

Well they are not problem in Finland. Maybe because we rake our forests so much?
Some amount of wildfires is actually good, because wildfires prevent wildfires, and some species of animals and plants require wildfires to survive.
