I hope they fix the suicide method for the next world.
I figure that in a world where wandering around is arguably safer than it has ever been, especially during the first half of a world, it might make more sense to spend a lot more time questing. I have done some credos with a new char and got up to 8 per level and it's annoying, yeah, but a lot of the quests are pretty relative to the natural development of a character and village. I kinda like the idea of having quests as a sort of side project that progresses fairly evenly along with all the other grinds we seem to enjoy in the game.
Maybe some of the brutally high numbers can be mitigated with some high exp cost hearth magic instead. Maybe insta quest completion for a cost, or maybe even a character stat like will or charisma, or a fully new credo offering a chance to turn a completed quest in to a count of 2 completed instead?
Either way, the whole rest of the game is a slow burn, so I think character development should be as well.
Credos have only been out for a year and a few months. For the people saying that are in the 30s with their quests, have you been actively questing this entire time, or taking long breaks, or what's the deal? Genuinely curious.
