I mean stone wall, referring to what the commenter was talking about.

This stone wall become quite useless quite quickly. It is only useful very early before the men can buy vandalism to break it. You must have palisade if you like to be safe at this stage of the game. I think general advise is to make palisade number one priority in new world. For comparison, my grouping has have this palisade wall since a few days ago and we are having no issue with theft.

At this point I think probably your best bet is to move. If there are men intent on harassing you and you are less powerful than them, what other option can you have? Fundamentally you must do some thing that will increase their cost of bothering you to point where it is not worth it for them to do so. Moving father away is easiest way of doing this. If you are hellbent on staying, then I think best strategy is this:

  1. Set up drying racks and tanning tubs in some remote location, the harder to get to the better. Ideally this will be some spot no men will go, and it will not be found until you can get leather from it. Example is at end of dead end of cave, or perhaps some area in cave you can only get to if you bring boat. Very few men will casually check these location.
  2. When these materials are done, alt vault them until you have enough to build wall.
  3. Figure out when the men who are harassing you are active.
  4. Build initial cornerpost and entire rest of the wall when these harassers are asleep. For the first few hours after it is built, it can be easily broken by hand. Ideally you will get out of this range before your harassers notice you have wall up.
  5. Be sure to seal the cornerposts once the wall is done. Be sure that gates open outward so you can use slave key.

Yes that's my point, stone walls won't stop anyone, and a new palisade will just get destroyed.

Not necessary (unless they reverted that at some point); you cannot extend a palisade on a claim you have no vandalism rights on (not even as a crime of vandalism).

If people are stealing from inside your claim just move the fuck out of that place. They are big enough to not care about leaving scents.

I think this is still true, but I will seal it just to be safe. Plus I build my wall before I have claim up.

A solution that would satisfy all those who want to avoid getting ganked would be the creation of non-PvP zones, and an option to spawn your new character inside such zones. This would give all those who don't want the hassle of PvP a safer experience. Meanwhile, outlaws who entered PvP areas could still be targeted while inside them.

What's the old saying? "If you can't beat them, join them." Maybe they'll be willing to take a poor noob under their wing and teach you the ways of the hearthlands.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

There's plenty of things you could do. The great thing about haven is that you have so much choice in such a situation.

-You can move away
-You can negotiate with them
-You can pay someone to fuck them up
-You can join someone
-You can grind harder than them and get revenge
-You can put in effort to build a palisade which isn't destroyable by hand when it dries after 2 days (hint, move away so they don't find you in the 2 day timeframe)

Rebuilding the same little drywall in the same place with your dick in your hand is indeed playing passively, but it's your choice, the game doesn't force you to do this.

Our settlement had issues with griefing too. We moved to a couple cave bases in the interim. In the end the griefers were just wasting time and ultimately getting behind us because while they were dicking around our base destroying stockpiles while we were questing.
