There'll still be a need for alts to specialize even if you remove the hunger/hunger bonuses of stat gains. Too many things are just dangerous or harsh on the player from wounds.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Chess?

If you are bad at chess it would be wise to let someone impersonate you aka "alt".

Who allowed terraforming alt on the forum? :)

I thought were are talking from the player perspective here. If you are bad at chess you will have hard time keeping one game in your head. Playing several games against several opponents simultaneously is accepted practice in chess but it is a harder challenge and doesn't make you win easier.

Chess?

I should clarify that I mean online persistent world type game. If a man can be physically capable of control two characters simultaneously in this game, it will always be better for him. He can accomplish more thing if he has more character active.

Even if it is not possible to control them simultaneously, if there is any timegate at all, it is still optimal to play multiple character. This is because you will get more of the timegated action than other players.

In this way, I guess for chess this still hold true if rating is defined as the persistent world. If a man can play two chess game at once (without playing more poorly), he can progress in rating faster because he simply plays more matches.

I guess you'll notice in the deeper levels that AFK mining isn't a good idea anymore.

Yeah I might take that back actually. Even if I'm not planning to dig deep (yeah.. sure..) yesterday upon expanding my borders my terraformer got mauled by animals about 3 times cause I wasn't paying attention.. Or my multitasking skills got way worse.

Anyways I guess bad kind of alts are the gate keepers that keeps your master keys and are never logging in. Those are instances that takes away one of the games intended mechanics - having to keep your keys safe INGAME.

That and resource alts...
