As a new player this has to be my biggest gripe so far. I ended up giving up trying to raid wild hives and just bought the larvae, as it simply wasn't worth the effort.

Like I'm not super fond of it, but the answer is to not deal with them. Find a hive with no guard bees spawned, try to raid it. Bees come out? Nope, walk away (well boat or horse). Repeat until you get larvae, it does happen eventually.

My world start is going ok, but the hunger system is killing me since I'm doing mining.

lol, yeah kinda that.

bee skeps were a cunt to get going. mining is a lot slower to get off the ground properly, early stat grinds felt a bit more painful to me.

But the few of us playing this world from our group (literally down to 2 of us now) have a nice little interestingly laid out base, industries coming into swing... it's getting there for me, just a bit of a slower initial burn than I've come to expect.
Oh boy, here I go cheesemaking again...

I tried that for several days. I must have been suuuper unlucky though because not a single one didn't spawn bees. At one point, a single hive spat out over a dozen swarms. Was easier and much less effort just to get some stuff together to trade for it.

And I must play this world not as a developer's help to get the game to beta, but literally against their will while they try to persuade everyone to give up the game.

Oh agreed, it's an unsatisfying and RNG as heck mechanic atm. But I've managed to raid about 2 skeps worth so far. 3rd skep came from larvae I harvested from skeps so it's rolling painfully slowly.

Bees are a crowd source venture this world. You need a crowd to source any at all.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I didn't play for 2 years and skipped most of world 10, so I've just been reacquainting myself with the game and learning everything added during my break. I've just been a hermit, so the pace is slow, but I've been enjoying it.

Every world I play is better and better and this one is no exception.

Despite some notable frustrations I'm fully in agreement. Little things like animals being automatically shooed when you enter a gate are just great QoL additions to the game.

Keep up the good work jorb & loftar. It's not perfect but I still love it after 8 years and it's definitely getting better.
