You clearly did not understand the point.
Discord for example, could at any moment just leak all of your messages and images and other information.
They could also make their platform shit with ads and limitations.
If their servers crash, which often happens, you can't do anything.
You may think that then you can just change to some other platform.
But its not that easy, it will take a long time to find some good one and get enough people to move into using it.
Some people may refuse to move away from discord right away, and then you must use discord if you want to chat with them.
