If you look where you are jumping/climbing the cliffs aren't a problem. I agree that the stuck situation could have been treated better by the game but honestly, if you did not manage to learn your lesson after the first stuck, then meh...

I agree that some animals were buffed a bit too much for what they offer, because for example boar doesn't offer anything special while taking way too much to kill compared to badger or fox, but watching where you walk and not getting too close to fast animals is easy, boars can be outrun with 3rd speed so they shouldn't be a problem even if they aggro you, and watching yourself when you want to jump through a cliff is easy as well because you can just pick a spot that you are sure will not make you stuck

and even if the animal is faster than you and you get aggrod you can run away if there's a cave(burrows are likely to be unreliable though, because they can be destroyed) or long enough cliff just next to you, because the length of the cliff makes their speed insignificant, and if it's long/round enough they might even stop going around it(works only for some cliffs)

so to sum it up you just got rekt in a terrible way because you dont watch what you are doing, and you can easily avoid such "problems" if you pay attention to things you do

51 hhp damage is pretty normal on high opening, it's not like the boar did it when the opening was at like 20 or 30

it might also be a good idea to get more than 1 ua, for example 5, and then punch those badgers in the face

you should also use restorations, to make you openings, and thus wounds, smaller

and yeah they should fix cliffs, but for now they didn't so you should have it in mind to avoid it yourself

alt-tab-ing while questing much? Animals are finally in a good place imo.
Animal behavior could certainly improve. Beatings will continue until it does. - jorb, January 2018.

Mullet is better, and it's easier to get early game.

Much as I love fishing, boar are very easy to get early game. As soon as you have metal for spears boar's on the menu, and that only takes a grug alt to smash walls until walls smash him.

Yeah, but you also need armor which breaks ridiculously quickly at low qualities, feather flies are a much cheaper alternative. Not to mention you need to wait for tar kiln to get that spear, meanwhile you can get fishing rod on day one and have dried mullet by the time that coal is done.
