Yeah I meant more of a if Russia becomes overconfident and this powder keg goes. From what I understand though finland doesn't fuck around and has already rebuffed the ussr love dance. They seem crazy hardened enough to do it again.

Not sure if Ukraine is a foregone conclusion though. A guerilla defense with the intelligence capabilities of nato could be really costly to an aging military power. Afghanistan was a shitshow for the US and they didn't have the US feeding them intel.

I liked Ukraine and Ukrainian people. They seemed nice. But I can't sympathise. Russia wanted Ukraine. Ukraine preferred a war. There is a war. Pretty simple.

Bigger countries always bully and control smaller ones. Having the USA as a neighbour is no picnic. Australia might as well be a puppet state of the USA. Pretty sure we make more money from China. Hence I would prefer China as a friend of Australia. Especially given how much our "friendship" with the schoolyard bully USA costs us financially and socially. Honestly disgusting how the USA operates it's intelligence agencies against its allies.

Anyway point being Ukraine should have capitulated earlier than this. I also think most eastern Europeans do not realise how incompatible their culture is with the culture of western Europe.

Just like WW2 the West is almost wholly responsible for setting the stage for this to occur.

Thread title should be changed to Russia invades Russia.

Moldova would probably be better off under Russian control.

Finland would be costly to invade and this is where I believe the EU and it's allies would respond with violence. Triggering a Chinese invasion of Taiwan.

Interesting times we live in.

Dreadful times. I am a native Ukrainian.

But everyone can help Ukraine right now. Materially or by reaching out to your representation in the government. Make sure the politicians you vote for support Ukraine. Including military equipment and arms supply. We have already got a lot of support but it's not enough to stop the Russian army that will maintain their attack on Ukraine. Make sure you support political parties that will impose the most impactful sanctions against the Russian State. Their economy SHOULD suffer. They SHOULD NOT be able to feed their soldiers or fuel their tanks.

Here you can learn on how to help Ukraine:

Weird to think that there could be the odd old hearthlings on either side rn. Hoping for a swift return to peace, with minimal loss of blood and treasure.

Thoughts are with anyone directly affected by the affair.

Preemptively: Let's keep this thread civil and dignified.

How would that work. Unless Ukraine capitulates, or is overrun. Its not going to end swiftly.
And even than ... Putin will continue to target the western world (which is still highly divided in what to do next)

But one is free to hope, ... like all those politicians hoping, and hoping, and hoping on some last minute agreement. Nicely following Putins game plan.
Autocrats/Bullies/Criminal-minds play by different rules ... which those hopeful politicians seems to not get (or are pretending to not get it)

NATO: Were not going to send troops.
Biden: Were not going to send troops.
Putin: Thanks you, just what I was waiting for.
Xi to Putin: Good luck & success.

Criminal to hostage: Its not my fault your dead. You moved, and I told you what would happen if you did.

A better comparison to a hostage situation would be if the criminal made demands and then the police just went 'lolno' and left him alone. Now the criminal is shooting hostages and everybody is shocked.

"If the obviously aggressive line of our Western colleagues continues, we will take adequate, retaliatory military-technical measures [and] react toughly to unfriendly steps. I want to emphasize that we have every right to do so."

Putin declares war and invades another sovereign country.

"Why would the west do this!"

You are deluded. The ones that will pay the highest price are the people. Not sympathizing with a suffering people because they refused to give up their lands is peak Jalpha shitposting. If the Putin put down their weapons there is no War, if the Ukrainians put down their weapons their is no Ukraine.

Your notion that this is Putin invading Putin is beyond retarded, by that logic there is no Australia you are just a Bri'ish prison.

Our anger should be directed at the politicians and those in charge not with the people.

Nato must go ... And should have gone already in the '90, After the Wall fall.

Of course Usa won't ever let that happen ... They are scaried by the perspective of a Eu military force, not talking about his own interests.

If we, europeans, would have dealt with these kind of stuff on our land... This and many more Wars wouldn't happened!

P.s. in the '80 Usa was in West germany, look now where they are, I'm Always against Wars ... But Wars are not only fought with weapons
