Patches just updating colors bit now and then is just so lazy, they have lost their inspiration, which happens i guess. But don't let the game die because of it.

Considering how the game was in the beginning and how the game has evolved to what it is now. . .

So much has changed in the game, I don't know if the original spirit still exists. I mean, do not get me wrong, the game has had improvements and what not over the years, But a lot of the core concepts of the game has changed so much, its not the same H&H.

But alas, I am not the genius that is needed to bridge this divide in order to broker "the better game"

I don't know if J & L are either. But they have a Ton of a better chance than I.

So we wait. . .

And hope.

Bob Dole still believes the change from a 2.5d to a 3d world was a huge blunder. He would rather play old haven than this.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Ultimately it's the players that give these types of games their spirit, and I don't mean that as an insult towards any current or past players. It's just the natural course of a sandbox game that maintains the same mechanical rule-sets for so long that players eventually become accustomed to those mechanics and adapt ways to streamline the overall rate of progression. It goes from enjoying the game itself to instead finding enjoyment in ever increasing numbers, and players that prefer rising numbers tend to deter those that play such games to see a story unfold, or build something grand, or simply want a relatively casual experience.

I suppose it's not an easy problem to solve, especially in games that have already been around for as long as this one has. In my opinion there is certainly a difference between the state of the game in World 10 vs now and some of the more recent prior worlds. They lack a certain something that made the older worlds so enjoyable, I don't really know what exactly that is, the political landscape? The naivety of newer players? An active and thriving economy? The combat experience? Maybe some of those things combined and more.

Never look back. Always forward.

We need the next iteration of Haven in 3.5D.

Maybe if the forum had a little more balance between "game related discussion" and "impersonating another user while hurling personal attacks at everything others say", we could facilitate a few more regular haven players?
Coming here for me, personally, is some kind of self-flagellation ritual where the only potential gain is that I'll maybe see a new announcement post

+1, they turned the asylum over to the inmates years ago and it's been unusable as an actual community platform since

The game had bigger pop even when the devs abondoned the game for years at a time during legacy thats for sure. Something just has gone wrong and all the work since 2015 has been for nothing!
Hint: alot of blame is because of the influence on devs from the people that want to turn the game into peaceful farming game with overcomplicated mechanics and it has been slowly losing the concept of harsh permadeath game over all this time which has always been the main appeal of the game
