It may be safer than it was but it is still a game where anyone can kill anyone else for no reason and with no repercussions. It is still a world where, upon seeing another player on the map, most people will hearth rather than risk attack ..."better safe than sorry".

You'd be surprised how often people will just row past me or carry on foraging the swamp etc

It's actually kinda crazy how ppl will act surprised when u ko them the most common msg is "why???" Like bruh why would I share this swamp Lmao wtf is up with ppl these days

The only thing that fills me with any dread or doom is the devs current radio silence but also that doom is tempered by logic because I have been here long enough to remember that they do this alot and in the past have come back... although I in my time cannot remember them ghosting for nearly this long.
