Still not sure about where the reason to lie about this one being official comes from.

There was a disagreement in moderation rules.
For example OP used to be in top 3 people in saying the hard R.
2 groups emerged with one valuing more free speech than the other.

The reason to lie about being "official" is to lure people who don't pay attention too much and overshadow the old server with activity.
You could call it discord pvp between mods.

It's a bit more complicated than that.

The old abandonned server was always just a faction discord server run by 1 faction and the moderation in there was nonexistant for years, leading to many nasty things happening like doxxing.

Then, seemingly out of the blue, they ramped up moderation, and banned many of the most regular chatters in this community.

The new (offiicial) server started with some basic rules and tries its hardest to be an actual asset for the commnity. It's really just a different vibe entirely. There aren't many nights without tons of people in VC watching movies or playing games together, and most of the nefarious people who want to ruin the Discord experience for others actually get moderated and the rules have been consistent from the start. It's more active and more of a community style place by such a stretch they are barely even comparable.

Don't expect much from the moderation team they are regular players who have ties to haven groups so there will be bias.
This is not an officially appointed team.

From what I understand, there actually is an appointed team that were intentionally picked from a selection of factions to eliminate bias as much as possible.

It may not feel like there is an appointed team but that's because the moderators are mostly anonymous, which also helps to eliminate the feeling of bias.
