Your game is like the last season of Game of Thrones. Hard to watch.

If you’re still playing this world, why? What keeps you around? Maintenance mode in which you log on to farm the crops, feed animals, fill curios then log out again? Do you take over old bases? Kill and raid the very few remaining players? I’m curious as to what the active players actually like do at this stage.

Play casual, do whatever I feel like
Often not caring to eat myself, perhaps boat ocean while watching some YouTube trying to find a whale.
Only thing I maintain in plot is cheese and satiation is so punishing it's 5-10 minutes effort daily if not less.

Progressing through some credo slowly, making some fancy houses, things like that.

And the reason as to why is that b cause I like the game outside of pvp only too, even when many parts of it need revision by Devs. And even though Devs try to provide a lasting achievement or whatever the literal text was, I understand all video games are wasted time. It's not wasted if it's enjoyed time so only reason to take part in this game is if you enjoy parts of it. Noone force you to be anything and qualities of things are all in people their mind it does not matter at all because only matters to those who PvP but there is no PvP so it matters for noone.

If you're not playing this world for casual fun at this point you're doing it wrong in my view. Same with those who only complain but they continue playing. Try leave some constructive criticism on your way out but continuing to play and complain while hoping things change short term is just dumb.

I’m not so worried about the specifics of why, mostly I’m interested in the activities themselves. Doesn’t sound like you do very much at the moment. For example, if someone asked you to suggest a list of projects/activities you could do in-game which can be related or unrelated to pvp, what would be the suggestions? And would they be fun for everyone or no fun at all? Is the average player capable of performing them without too much investment?

Oh man, I worked so hard on our grapes to get good vinegar in nice supply.

Then this happens.

"Oh just throw that shit out, we use pear vinegar."

What a kick in the grapes that turned out to be.

There's no competition left, but you can build larpy things and play games like shoeball. Whether that's fun or not depends on the person. Since barely anyone is playing, I assume most people don't find it very rewarding.

That's one possibility yes, not personally something I'm in to but I know quality grinding can be enjoyable for others so that's a perfect example.

Examples of some other activities I thought about could be the following:

  • Village and/or Realm expansion
  • Claim and rebuild abandoned bases
  • Safe pali construction
  • Convert non-forest biomes to forest
  • Increase low and high q tar production
  • Build/improve quest road networks
  • Build experience road networks (roads to local resources)
  • Mine an underground road from one side of a continent to the other
  • Mine/smelt/spiral iron
  • Search unexplored tunnels/caves/levels for local resource and high q nodes (cave clay, glimmer, angler, etc.)
  • Wagon/knarr hunting trip
  • Make food/curiosities in bulk
  • Local resource gathering
  • Create your own market for trading or setup barter stands at another
  • Build charter villages at or near useful locations
  • Build island vaults

Stuff like that are the sort of activities I think most players would have in mind when they are looking for something to do in-game that can be both interesting and productive.

Well, damn. I never even thought about leaving fruit juice out.
