I kinda admire everyone who plays haven as competitive game considering all bugs, exploits, bots etc.

btw. remove salt (natural res), hunger from quest givers, driftkelp, fairy mushroom, balance food (pickling, sheep pie, autism steak), add rolling stats cap
btw2. rework food, requirement of cookbooks as 2nd external party service to play the game because there are 999999999 combinations of one food sux as fuck

He'll never remove the blackbox rng fep machine. In spite of being one of the worst aspects of the game, it's one of the mechanics he's married to and actually proud of.

A competent game developer would (obviously) want to control what the best way to gain levels is, but by pure random chance the best way to level your character will probably be farming beetroot/mining salt for the rest of the game's life. Fighters leaving their base was cool while it lasted, but alas

Basically always playing for a while, building up a small base, then dropping the game after bit before coming back a year or two later to give it another go. I also know pretty much fuck all about anything combat wise and barely know how the system works, so someone please do point out if my opinon is just shit.

Personally though, I think there needs to be more way more PVP. That PVP needs to be a focus that the game puts on the player. Something that the game makes you engage with, or at the very least acknowledge, because right now I feel like it doesn't at all.

A lot of people point out that this is a pvp game with permadeath and that new players should be ready for that. Don't leave yourself undefended. Don't just wander around while injured because someone could find you and kill you. Probably actually learn how the combat system works (unlike myself) :? But I feel when you play the game itself you don't feel this, and there is almost always no incentive to do any of the above.

People talk about people playing this like a farming simulator, but the fact is that when you start out it feels like there is rarely another way to play.

As an ex-forever noob who joined pvp factions in the last couple worlds to see what it was like, I've learned Haven isn't a PvP MMO like some of them desperately try to claim, it really is just a farming MMO with a few janky PvP elements tacked on. There's nothing outside your walls worth fighting for and the PvP is more about running and drinking than actually fighting. Even the PvP groups hate PvP so much that they rarely ever fight each other, because evidently getting them to actually organize fights is a neigh impossible ask.

Haven PvP gives that bit of suspense while wandering outside of your base. For that, it's perfect. But is it worth learning and participating in for a spruce? Hell no. Should it be forced on players more? Hell no, not with the game as it is now. There'd need to be major overhauls and/or content additions, and I don't know how I feel about so much dev time being spent exclusively to satisfy a minority group of people who habitually bug abuse and bot abuse without any sense of shame. Especially since the changes might not satisfy them. I weep for those hours that were spent on that one combat rework only for it to get binned because Haven PvP must be about running away. Speaking of, I can't remember if the devs spoke on this, but would it be possible to give PvE enemies those combat mechanics? Might make hunting and dungeons actually fun.

Aren't devs listening to pvp-related posters again?
Central spawn? How about a big no?
What about actual "hermits" who want to play farming sim on the edge of the world and not participate in any social activity outside of safe hubs?

Don't worry, buddy. Winter is still in the game after there not being a fight in winter since 2020 since it's unplayable for PVP. They don't give a FUCK what PVPers want.
