dear diary. Today i died for the first time. Never thought the badger will stand his ground after i shoot him with the arrow -150 hp and then come to me and tear my ass till i die.

No need for them to stand their ground. Just make wounded animals run slower. I imagine that if animal starts a fight it usually doesn't think of escaping until it's injured and at this point it's probably hard for it to run at full speed. Right now melee hunting seems possible only on grasslands / caves, where it's possible to sprint


Or you could fight on a horse. But horses should not be a requirement for hunting, and the hitbox issue prevents horse combat from working on bigger animals.

This.

Pretty sure the definition of "standing their ground" in jorb's book means they are now akin to a mother bear guarding its cubs and will now murder you.
