An actual decent suggestion a while back by spawningmink (I know...):

I agreed on that on the 2ed page. that decks should come with 3 instantly loaded cards o/c not cards at use IP.

I agree with this suggestion, i think it would solve a lot of problems with combat.

Forced cooldown at start would only make sense in case you can select your opening move, and it is the same time for all.

In case you time it by agility then opening move will always be chop, higher agility wins by default.
In case it is even for both i would guess opening move for most will be green defense.

So we could end the discussion by letting us set a default opening card for the school and forget about the initial cooldown.

I concur. It would also make a lot of sense to only have this beginning cooldown if your fighting another player, something that could be done I think.

From my understanding of combat, if automatic cards were implemented, anyone who didn't pop up a green defense would either immediately go down to a chop or would lose such a large portion of their health that they could not reasonably recover from combat. I think this is telling to how outrageously powerful a soldier's sword is compared to the health of a character. In my opinion that's not a bad thing but I feel like powerful moves like chop need an IP cost or else they will always outweigh the value of other moves. That's more or less what IP is for, to act as an extra balancing dimension.

I'm overall very keen towards the idea of an automatic starting card (not necessarily a defense card even, just let players choose to let strategies build up naturally) but I feel like they should suffer the cooldown and costs of that card as per normal. Else there would be no consequence to using longer cooldown moves as an opener.

Under initial cool down i understood a moment of delay before the first cards get active (with normal cooldown).

Balancing wise chop should need ip, because it is able to instakill.
As is now for pvp a deck of punch and 4*chop is sudden death against anyone with lower UA/agility.

This kind of stuff makes me question my next month subscription. If botters take over, good honest players will slowly leave. I do not want this game to become a bot battle sandbox arena. Pls devs do something about it.
