I also dislike the current combat system, but I absolutely loathed the legacy one. The truth is that I was never a fighter in legacy, that system was to difficult to me to aprehend. I have to admit also that PvP in Salem was more fun and rewarding to master. It was even more appealing to look at. Currently in HnH 1v1 spars are dull, boring and last forever or until one of them give up. They are even more boring to look at ...

I personally would love to see a Moba style combat, with timing and directioning of your moves being the most important factor. This deck system would work if the battles would be somehow instanced (like as soon as you get attacked you witch to an arena - see Duelyst). But then again, more poeple playing would be next to impossible, unless switched to dompletly turn based.

Please don't completely revamp before trying to iterate on the current system a bit more. Try adding old mechanics like advantage, adding more moves with special effects, increasing the number of cards in your hand at a time to promote larger decks, add a mechanic that promotes using varied cards and discourages spamming one card over and over again. There are tons of little changes that can be made which might have a big effect on the way combat plays out and would be interesting to test before completely moving on.

I just don't like the whole "deck" system. Remove the decks and let me put the skills on my hotbar and I won't complain.

i hope jorb is going to focus on the group combat side more than the 1v1 combat aspect, since there is almost no such thing as 1v1 in this game, it is very rare
There was a wise soviet conscript that was surrounded by the enemy on the battle of Stalingrad. A mortar shot teared his pants apart causing a big hole in his pants right on his right butt cheek. He felt a glorious cold ass breeze of wind on his butt cheek, like it would be sent by stalin himself, he said - hide your butts

No matter how it gets changed there needs to be proper siege involved otherwise you can change combat as many times as you want but nothing about the meta of the game changes when you can't get inside the perpetrator's village.

no? we are talking about combat mechanics here
siege mechanics are completely whole another discussion , siege mechanics are not combat mechanics
pls dont turn this into another siege topic....
