Sounds like sound combat. A gate is a choke point, a gate close to a river source should be consider a danger in and of it self. The fact they did not have the other three guys first flank then open the door shows that while they were willing, but lacked skill in knowing how to perform combat manuvers.

The reason they didn't wait to flank is that they thought it was just my friend. From their wall, I was just ever so slightly out of view. They saw the opportunity to chase down a guy who was by himself and not on a horse, and acted on it without thinking.
The guy who came out first was probably tunnel visioned on the "easy" kill in front of him, and thus he paid the price for his recklessness.

But yes, you are completely right. It was completely fair combat. I think people on the forum are too used to people bug raiding and shit, which is making them paranoid that people who PvP =/= bug abusers.

Oh and to answer your question Red, yes you can shoot over those little fences. I found this out the hard way the other day by killing one of our tamed horses while sparring with my friend (the arrow missed him and hit one of the horses in the pen behind him).

Yes, I could barely see the gate, but where oh where did I say I killed him at his gate? I said he came out, aggro'd my friend, then died to me.
This will all be cleared up later on when I head back to Aramore and show you exactly where he died via the scents. I was clearly visible to him.

And yes, the horse was on their village claim.

Exploits aren't bug abuses. You used a mechanic that the devs can't control or change to oneshot people. You exist between two fine lines. The line of 'Fair Combat' and the line of 'Unfair Combat', more shifted towards unfair because he couldn't do anything once he was in your line of sight.

Ok, so in order to protect against archers in the future, build a full wall in front of your gates with enough room to move out in two different directions. Reduce chance of ambush.

It is posts like this which truly do give me the impression that you are illiterate.
The spot where I was in my boat was out of their vision until you come out of the gate. However, if you've ever used archery before, you would know that you cannot shoot as far as you can see (at least I can't, not with the current bow I have). As soon as he came out of his gate, he could see me. He didn't walk out of the gate and then instantly get shot down the moment he stepped out. He walked out (A good 5 or so steps from the gate), stopped, aggro'd my friend, and then died to my shot. He had a good 5 seconds to react. He never. The only thing I can think of is that he mistook me for a melee character since he was focused on killing my friend. Maybe he never expected us to fight at all. Who the fuck knows.
The bottom line is, he saw me, and had ample time to do something. Instead he acted sluggish and even outright stopped at one point, for a split second.

Again, to repeat what I said before, a guy on foot in q100 steel is far less threatening than a guy in q50 bronze riding a horse. Now that they also act as a fucking shield is retarded.

Those guys are know for wandering around and baiting people to kill them, hermits around our village msged me that some guy called onion is asking about getting out of the village and talks that he is a fairy. His spells are much worse than Wizards tho.

Looking for a wise veteran PvPer to take me under his wing and teach me everything he knows until I eventually surpass and kill him like all good master/pupil relationships go.

Then the attacker has two archers, same problem still happens. I think the issue here lies with an archer alt (that's so underdeveloped it doesn't even have Vandalism) being able to one-shot a warrior in full armor from significant distance.
