Islam is a bronze age religion in need of reform, the people who practice it may not all be bad people, but the religion is horrible and it encourages horrible things like the systematic oppression of people based on gender, the murdering of homosexuals and apostates.

It is not a religion the world needs, period. we'd all be better off having something stupid and harmless like Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses

Don't underestimate these groups. They're seditionists just waiting for the right moment to take over. Luckily Obama beat out the Mormons for the Presidency and good of the US.

At least the crazy ones don't go around murdering people in the name of their god, right? And the ones that do are a pretty rare case, unlike with Muslims, where a pretty large majority of them are sympathetic to the concepts of Jihad and Sharia.

I don't care much about muslims (or any religions, for that matter) but I disagree with this statement. As with any generalisation, it's just extrapolating the most loud group members' traits onto all the group.

When you're dealing with a religion that is considered law in a few countries, and people live and worship this thing as a code on "how to live" I think I have a good reason to generalize it, because literally millions of people are governed over them with this ideology, and this ideology is ingrained into them so badly that they can't even act like civilized human beings outside of their own country.

All Muslims believe the Quran is the be all end all guide to life, and if it's in there, it's right. they may not go out and kill gays, but it says in the book, "yup, that's right, kill gays, they're bad" then they think it's the right thing to do.

Not all of them are murderers, but all of them think that the murderers are justified by their ideology.

The ones who think otherwise are bad Muslims, or "not true Muslims", as sad as I am to use that argument.

The 'Moderate' side of Islam

while i call into question the statistical accuracy of a poll giving equal weight to muslims in afghanistan (32 million) vs. tunisia (10.8 million), i'm not exactly qualified to provide countering data. so, let's assume that the data at least is correct and the sample size is significant enough to extrapolate into an accurate representation of "moderate" vs. "extreme/radical" muslims. if that's the case, then why aren't the silent majority of "peaceful" muslims doing anything about their radicalized, violent jihadist brethren? why is it left up to the rest of the world to put a stop to the genocide, human rights abuses, and rape and slavery of women and children perpetrated by radical islamists?

i think it may have something to do with the FACT (not racist accusation) that these sorts of acts are not only permitted, but encouraged in the most holy of islamic texts, the qu'ran.

Theres no such thing as a silent majority of peaceful muslims, although I am assuming there is at least a very small minority within the community that might be considered as such. Their holy book is very clear about how an Islamic society should run. Jihad is not considered terrorism under sharia definition btw. The link I shared goes into details on that.

Why does everyone in this thread instantly think that this is a Muslim/ISIS-oriented attack? Yes, it was a terror attack, but that can be done by anybody; despite political, religious, or personal reasons. Not saying that there's no chance that it was an ISIS "sponsored" terror attack, but it's not the only option here.

Regardless, this is a terrible tragedy. France shouldn't be accosted simply because they want to tighten their borders for 3 good reasons.
